The Kiss

I Gaffered this one for Diego Collado, fellow member and co-founder of Campdale Motion, who was also the DoP for this project.

A contemporary interpretation of Anton Chekhov’s ‘The Kiss’, and Pedro Tafur Fasce’s directorial debut, The Kiss, was filmed and edited in 31 Campdale Road. Lawrence, an aspiring botanist, cannot stop thinking about the unknown girl who kissed him in the final hours of a party.

This was the first time we as Campdale Motion shot on anarmophic lenses. The tight space (student-flat), with the width of the anarmophics, in addition to the DoP’s desire to freely roam the camera around a party scene for some of the shots, made for some difficult lighting set ups.

Nonetheless, we pulled through in large part thanks to the hard-work of director Pedro Tafur and my lighting team in creating certain safe pockets of light across the space where stands would be hidden away and the capturing of important shots would be ensured.
