Pedro Tafur Fasce’s deeply personal film marked my second venture as DoP, in what was Campdale Motion’s first international production as we filmed both in Ledbury, UK, and Tossa del Mar, Spain.

The film centres on a Latin gangster longing for the one thing his money was never able to buy: the love of Lady Marbella.

We decided to capture this film on a hybrid digital and 16mm format. Aside from the financial considerations, we saw this schism as an apt visual representation of our protagonist’s experiences in the story. Pairing these formats with the fast Zeiss Otus primes (digital) and the sharp S16 Canon 6.6-66mm zoom lens (16mm) yielded positive results.
