Precipice
Precipice holds a special place amongst my filmography for me; not only as my directorial debut but as a project for which I am equally proud in the end product as well as the journey partaken to get there.
This 7-minute psychological thriller was an experiment to see how well we could execute a simple idea: one man, in one room, searches for the source of one, increasingly disturbing sound. The narrative focuses on an internal conflict within the protagonist and establishes a tension that unfolds within the confines of a single room.
The production quality we were able to achieve here despite our modest budget was thanks to the hard-work and talent of the incredible team, as well as the generous residents of 31 Campdale Road who allowed ingenious Production Designer, Lucy Ashmore, to practically transform the basement room into a film studio.
Precipice won the Future of Film Awards' Best First Time Director prize last summer, among numerous other festival selections, and is currently doing its final festival circuit run.
